Walcha ace Carl Green is no stranger to the Bendemeer Campdraft.

But for the first time in more than a decade competing at the event, Green’s schedule is a little bit lighter.

Event organisers elected to split the Campdraft and the Rodeo, meaning Green will not have to get on a bull until next month.

Even so, the man regarded as one of the nation’s best stock riders has a busy schedule.

He will be one of the leading chances in the Stockman’s Challenge.

The event includes a cut out, obstacle course, stockman’s chop and a poley buckjump.

“It’s a bit of fun at the end of the other events,” Green said.

“There’s no doubt the campdraft is a bit easier on the body.

“So I’m looking forward to that side of it and worry about the bull-riding in a couple of weeks.”

Green, 28, always enjoys getting to the Bendemeer event and is in good form after impressing at last month’s ABCRA Nationals in Tamworth.

“Bendemeer’s close to us at home,” he said.

“It’s always a great event to be part of and I’m sure it will be again.”

The Campdraft gets underway on Saturday with a program consisting of Maidens A and B, Junior/Juvenile, Ladies and Novice A, before the Stockman’s Challenge takes centre stage.

Sunday sees the continuation of Novice A, then Novice B, Open and then finals.

The event draws big crowds to Bendemeer, which swells from its usual population of around 485 into the thousands.
