February’s campdraft was postponed amid fears horses being near the bats could spark an outbreak of the deadly Hendra virus.

Organisers of the Aberdeen campdraft say they have attracted a large number of entries to the rescheduled event, which had to be postponed earlier this year due to a large colony of flying foxes at the ground.

The competition, which took place from September 11 to 13, had to cancelled in February amid fears horses being near the bats could spark an outbreak of the deadly Hendra virus.

Campdraft organiser Camilla Rea said a good number of people have enterd to compete.

“We’ve had some big entries for a great weekend,” she said.

We’ve got about 950 entries, so it’s a good number.

“It’s a good day out for people who want to come along.
